| I was looking through some Server+ books at the book store, just to get an idea of what its like. I got the impression its kind of like network+ and A+ combined, is this the case? Or am I way off here and need to get my head examined? | |

| A+ deals with PC technology in general. The software test covers DOS, Win9X, and NT/2K. The hardware test looks at all the integral parts of a typical PC, and it touches upon networking.
Network+ addresses the basic elements of networking PCs together.
Server+ covers the machines in the network responsible for providing services and resources to all the networked boxes. S+ delves into the specific technology associated with high end server boxes and the environment in which you would find these systems.

| It does not get much deeper in the N+, you will get N+ troubleshooting Q's. You get alot more in depth with the A+ especially in the SCSI Raids... It also look much more into the backup, ups server oriented issues... | |

| Some examples of things you would look at in server technology, but not in too much depth in general networking are:
UPS
KVM switch
Network Load Balancing
Hot Sites
Raised Floors
HVAC
Rack Mounted Servers
Storage Area Networks
Tape Libraries
ECC Memory
RAID
Tenperature, Humidity in Server Rooms
Symmetric Multiprocessing
Afdapter Teaming
etc. | |

| Ahhh hmmm sounds fun. Maybe I will pick up a book or two on it. I'm sure I can search the forum and find this out but I will ask now heh, any suggested books? | |

| There's several resources that are specifically geared toward Server+ but
many seem to like...
1) Server+ Bible by Trevor Kay (Hungry Minds)
2) Server+ Certification for Dummies by Ron Gilster (Hungry Minds)
Most people will recommend picking up a couple of books for different author perspectives.
