| I've got a question which got me stumped. If you need to connect hub1 to another hub, hub2, using the uplink port on hub1 and a normal port on hub2, what sort of cable should you use? Normal UTP or a cross UTP? | |

| It uses straight. Uplink port is already crossed, so you use straight. If you would connect two hubs without a uplink or the MDX port, you use crossover cable.
Then again, you should know this with all the certifications that you got. Not to knock you, but this is the basic Network 101 stuffs.

| Thanks Twister for your reply. I just wanted to confirm the answer by another specialist, like yourself.
Nevertheless, this posting might become useful to others who might have the same question.

| The more common question on practice exams asks how to connect two hubs/switches from uplink connector to uplink connector.
answer is: crossover cable

| Most good hubs have a button that allows you to switch a port between uplink and normal. |
