I can say that a router is a "computer" built up for a specific purpose.
-link different LANs.
-Link different protocols.
-Serve as a default getaway to communicate a LAN with a WAN or the internet.
-Some other relevant functions.
My question is:Can the routing OS be installed on a "regular PC" to be used for such purposes and if it is possible, under which limitations or circunstances.
Probably the question is a little off topic but it doesn't hurt to ask

Gracias!!!

There are different types of routing solutions. You can have a dedicated hardware router (like a Cisco) or a PC running routing software (like Windows 2000 Server Routing and Remote Access Services).
