Do you know your SCSI?

Harold, a prospective Server+ candidate was asked to identify the valid SCSI cable connector types from the following list. Choose all of the correct answers from the following list:

A) 40-pin connector
B) 50-pin connector
C) 68-pin connector
D) 80-pin connector
E) BNC connector
F) Centronics 50 connector
G) DB-9 connector
H) DB-25 Connector

B. 8-bit (Narrow) SCSI devices require 50-pin (or fewer) connections. Fast SCSI.

C. 16-bit (Wide) SCSI devices require 68-pin connections. Ultra2 & Ultra3

F. SCSI-1 External A cable is the 50 pin Centronics connector cable. (C50M) 85 mil (2.16 mm) spacing. The original SCSI connector.

H. Apple and some older IBM SCSI connections use a 25-pin D-shell connector.

I was hoping some one is going to add explainations... I was too lazy to do so...

B, C, D, F, H
Someone has to stand up for and defend the 80 pin connector.

To be sure!

A special type of connector is used for drives and enclosures that support hot swapping. This connector is called an SCA (Single Connector Attach) connector. The current version is referred to as SCA-2. This connector design ensures the signal and power supply pins connect and disconnect at different times to minimize electrical problems during hot plug operations. Devices that use SCA type connectors are attached to the bus through a backplane without cables.

I thought the SCA is a PC board edge connector, correct? It is not pined... right? "Symentic" as Tech always says...

This is a Centronics-style connector with special properties used to ensure safe hot plugging of devices into an active system.

And the answers are...B,C,D,F,H

The 50-pin connector is used internal cabling for SCSI-2.
The 68-pin connector is for internal or external SCSI drives.
The 80-pin connector is used for devices with Ultra160.
The Centronics 50 connector is used with external SCSI devices.
The DB-25 connector is used with the original SCSI-1 standards
