Getting started on Server. I read back on some of the questions in this thread but did not see anything on this. I see that Server "Bible" is being recommended by many to use in studying. How are the hands on in this book or can someone recommend a book with some good hands on.
Thanks!

Hi Tweet,

Not really sure what you mean by "hands on"?
Most Server+ study guides cover the technical aspects but not a "how-to".

I noticed you hadn't listed any certs on your profile. If you could give us a little backgroud on your level of expertise, we could give you some advice on how to approach this exam.

Be advised, this exam is not for the novice. It is aimed at the technician with 2 years of SERVER experience. It gets deep, real quick.

We would be happy to aid your studies toward the Server+ exam. This group has a wide variety of skill-sets and plenty of advice.

Thanks Supertech. Hands on meaning where I can setup a lab to test some of the scenarios that I may no be familiar with. I will update my profile to reflect my certs. I am currently in the tech field and I already have knowledge of server but do have some problem areas such as remote dial-in.

Looks like GraceTech is offering a good selection of books. However, a book I would recommend if you want hands on exercises would be the Microsoft Server+ Certification book. There are plenty of labs to do throughout the book so you might want to check it out.

I would definitely look into the Server+ Bible as well. Its a good read and covers most everything for the test. However, there are no specific labs or exercises to do in the book.

Hi Tweet!

Welcome to the forum!

As you start to study for this certification the best advice I can give you is to not underestimate this test.

It is intentionally difficult and focuses on best practices that server technicians should use.

All of scenario questions on the exam will have qualifiers and distractors, so you will need to think through the questions on the test before you select an answer.

If you know the material in depth you should have no problem with the test. If you are just "familiar" with the terms and the technologies you will probably have a difficult time with the test.

Good luck and if there is anything we can do to help let us know.
