Does anybody care to comment on the section of the server plus exam regarding Ports?
Active , Well Known, Resisted , and frequently used?
I planning to take the test on the 1st and I am currently beating SCSI into my brain but also seem to have problems remembering the port ranges.

The port numbers are divided into three ranges: the Well Known Ports,
the Registered Ports, and the Dynamic and/or Private Ports.

The Well Known Ports are those from 0 through 1023.

The Registered Ports are those from 1024 through 49151

The Dynamic and/or Private Ports are those from 49152 through 65535

I guess I should have stated my question a little clearer.
Was there a lot of emphasis on ports on the test?
Does anyone recall even having a port question on there server+ test.

TechGuy67: I didn't receive any specific questions regarding ports, but you may end up with a couple depending on your draw.

Supertech already gave you a breakdown of the port ranges, I'd know the more common "Well Known Ports" just in case like FTP (20 & 21), HTTP (80), POP (110), SMTP (25) and Telnet (23). Here's a link for a quick list of well known ports.

Good luck!

It seems like i-Net+ was the only exam to ask about ports...

Thanks guys ! That will help.
I have mostly been concentrating on the well know ports. I am just having trouble remembering the port ranges.

Only the common ports will be asked, but it would be in the N+ or I-Net+... I didn't get any port questions either, they appeared in N+ for me.

I did not get any questions about ports. However, it never hurts to know the common ports.
