The Mikster is setting up his company's new server rack. He's rather glad he's inside today because its raining cats and dogs here in the UK. Having passed his Server+ exam, he knows that the general rule of thumb is to have the heavy equipment at the bottom and the lightest equipment at the top of the rack. This gives a lower center of gravity to the rack and makes it more stable.

As he is figuring out the placement of the hardware, he needs to make sure how many "U"s are needed for each piece of equipment. The first piece he looks at is a 5000VA UPS which is 17.78cm.
What is the total U for the UPS?

A) 7 Units
B) 4 Units
C) 1.75 inches
D) 4 inches
E) Umm...what's a U?

17.78 cm X .3937 = 6.99 in.

6.99 in / 1.75 = 3.999 U

We'll round up for a total of 4 Units.

Well, 1 U = 1.75 Inches and 1 inch = 2.54 cm, so do the math...

so, 17.78 / 2.54 = 7 inches

7 /1.75 = 4 U... no round off...

Sure I'm backing the metric system every "inch" of the way.
