| Well failed again the only thing I failed was the troubleshooting. I could swear up and down I passed I read the test over and over but the questions are so confusing in that they ask the question and there is like 3 possibles and they only want one. I don't get it and don't hink I will giving up on this creature never to take it again or at least till it's better designed. The pre installation questions are so strange in the fact what seems right may not be. Moving on to ccn got two test for 160 bucks and I'm satisfied with new material I've learned. | |

| I don't think you'll be the only one to put the Server+ test on the shelf for awhile. Its still a relatively new test and it might take a bit for CompTIA to get nice sampling size for the test. Hopefully, they'll make some modifications to the wording and ambiguity of the test that we've been hearing about. Good luck with CCN. | |

| Sorry to hear that, good luck on CCN and what is CCN? | |

| What's this CCN, maybe CCNA? Anyway best of luck to you! | |

I have heard many times that this was a weirdly worded test. That's kind of why I never even started studying for it. best of luck with the next test

| I guess if it was easy, everybody would be doing it. | |

| Yeah ccna is the next cert and yes I know that if it was easy everyone would be doing it but give a guy a chance really the questions are quirky at best. It's like who is the best Comptia mind reader sure not I. | |

| Good luck in the CCNA... It is much more difficult, but it IS better written... If you cannot get a router sim, consider starting with CCDA, as it requires no knowledge of router... | |
|
| My issue is less with the difficulty level as it is with my interest in "playing games". Guessing should not be a part of the equation imho | |

| Good point freak the test isn't hard it's a game of guess the answer. Shoot I might as well play which hand has the coin for all the test is concerned. I'm going for CCNA and start classes the 23rd of Sept for them. I got 7 weeks and a total of 14 four hour classes for cisco well worth it I belive. I'm goin to start studying with the simulator I got for real cheap at a used bookstore and read all thematerial I can get then get all the hands on I can get in the lab. I hope I will do OK with it. I'm really srong on the netwroking side of the house | |

| Jeremy, email me at freak@mcsefreakpress.com and refer to this thread. I will send you a free study guide for the CCNA to support you in your quest for the next cert
I feel for you, man. I know how hard it is to prepare for a test, only to come up short. It is all the more annoying when you fail because the questions are silly!
Just my little contribution to your success

Thanks for all the advice Freak. You have alot of Certs. Do you get to take them for free? If so, Why don't you try the Server+ just to see what it's like. Who cares if you pass(you might pass it anyway) it if you get it for free. Just try it so you'll understand.
Just a thought.
What do you got to lose?
Thanks again Freak

| Remember, I took this test 3 times and passed on my 4th attempt. Its not easy, questions are very misleading. That is not a reason to give up.. I shelled a good $764 (the last time I "got smart" and bought a voucher) for this exam. Believe me, when you pass this, its one of the greatest feelings, considering the high failure ratio.

Don't hold your breath I have many study guides on my list that I want to write before this one. Once again, if someone is interested in writing for www.MCSEFreakPress.com let me know!

| well, I am in the same boat with ya...I failed again today with a 68% (first exam was 60%)...I think I am going to hold off & take this exam when the new version comes out...I missed most of my questions in Troubleshooting/Problem Determination (11/20) & Disaster Recovery(5/10)...I think these questions were just worded poorly...the rest of the sections I just missed 6 questions...well, if anyone hears of a newly updated Server+ exam, I may reconsider taking it...until then... | |

| I've thought about waiting for a new iteration of the Server+, but there has been no word regarding this. I can't wait around forever so I'm still going to attempt this cert even with all the negative postings regarding the poor wording of the tests. I'm looking at the end of October.
So far, I've been put in some serious study time to make up for my weak server experience. I can honestly see myself working on high end servers if given the opportunity and obtaining this cert lends a bit of credibility to that. Unlike the other certs I hold which affirm some of my current skillsets and experience, I want to use Server+ as a stepping stone.
I've kind of slacked off a little with my Linux+ studies but servers and Linux go hand in hand. Hopefully, this cert path doesn't lead me to a deadend.
On a side note, haven't seen Freak around...

| I've failed this exam twice now, but what frustrates me the most is that I simply don't know which questions I'm missing. It's nice that they at least list subject areas, but it doesn't help much when dealing with tricky questions and poor/inconsistent wording.
I already have CCNA certification and I found that exam to be quite easy. I think I got about a 91% on it. I got a 100% on both of the A+ exams, and I got around a 94% on the Microsoft MCP - Win2k Workstation exam. Yet I failed the Server+ exam with a 71 and 73. Man, is that frustrating. I'm working on a 3rd attempt, but I'm taking it very slowly. Thankfully, my company paid for the first two attempts and will pay for the final attempt when I pass.
