| Passed Server+. Mainly used Server+ Bible and All-in-One. All-in-One is almost overkill but has good chapters on SCSI and RAID. The Server+ Bible is easy reading and the information is pertinent. I also got Microsofts Server+ trainer, and this book is easy reading and decent content, but it is more for a novice with little IT experience who is considering Server+ certification (a bit too basic as sole study material)
This test is a toughie, so be ready and know your stuff. Though I knew I wasn't ready, I cut my study time short to get this one out of the way, so I could focus more on MCSE W2K. I made a 77%, which is pretty low for me. However, I'd rather the test be tough and worthwhile to make it a bit more worthy of having on one's resume.

| Congrats! I'm just waiting on my company to order the vouchers so I can take mine. What did you think of the test material in the Server+ Bible as compared to the actual exam?

| If I had to break down the hours I would say I spent about 40 to 50 hours of study time in a few weeks. This time does not include the initial reading of the previously mentioned texts. If one is really diligent, one could probably be ready for this exam in about a month. I have some experience with SCSI and RAID, which is important to understand thoroughly for the exam, among the other objectives.
Of any of the CompTIA exams this one is probably one for which it is best to have some experience with hardware. It will cut your study time some if you are already at least familiar with PC troubleshooting and hardware.
The Server+ Bible is the best of the texts I used. The material covered was appropriate and pretty well done. I would not use it as my only resource though. | |
