| Anybody took this thing yet? I just got Sun Certified Sys Admin cert. Is Server+ easier or harder? Is boson and cert 21's practice tests enuff to pass? | |

| Hi,
Yes, I took the BETA version of the test. This version was three hours long and contains EVERY question in the test pool.
I have about 16+ years experience with servers and the test wasn't too bad for me. I liked it because it tested primarily experience. I suppose that there will eventually be 'crams' on the subject, but I think that is too bad because it is really geared to pure experience right now.
If you have worked fairly extensively with file servers and know your hardware well, this exam is do-able.
Without experience, well that remains to be seen. I guess it will depend on how well people can encompass the subject in 'training books'.
I would say the test is more difficult than the test you have just taken because it covers hardware a pretty fair bit and if you haven't got any 'hands-on' it will be difficult.
It is completely generic and tests for operational expertise as well as hardware expertise.
Haven't seen the tests you mentioned, so I'm afraid I'll have to pass on that.
Personally, I think how well you can 'study out' this test will depend entirely on which questions you get from the pool. Some are quite easy, and some are quite hard.

| I would like to know if these exams are enough. There is no books out there and yes my experience is what I am relying on however I need to know if these questions are going to help or not? | |

Thank you, Server+ Exam. I am currently pursuing this certification so I can further my knowledge of the server environment and I can instruct my Server+ to be pupils to further their careers. Any input would be much appreciated. Thank you Again. | |

Been studying both exams for the Server+. Got the cert21 exam and liked it, I also checked out Boson questions. I found that the Boson questions hit harder on SCSI flavors and more server troubleshooting questions like TCP/IP troubleshooting commands. Good luck! | |
