| I recieved a letter today stating that Intel has decide to move away from their own branded certification program and move toward support of industry standard certifications.
During March 2001, Intel will be transferring our customers that are in progress towards Intel Certification to two of the leading industry standard certifcation programs, ProsoftTraining.com Certified Internet Webmaster (CIW) and Computing Technology Industry Association (CompTIA).
As part of your transfer package, you will receive the following vouchers. You can use these towards exams or future certification.
1. $98 discounted CompTIA exam voucher towards exam for CompTIA certifications.
2. 30% discount on CIW self-study kits for CIW certications. These kits include a FREE CIW exam voucher.

| Looking at the CompTIA website, a great deal of exam developement, etc takes place at the Intel facility near Portland. I think they have been considering this for a while. Hopefully this IS the fallout/consolidation within the certification market. I see where the next S+ meeting will be @ Compaq in Houston. I hope the vendors will use CompTIA certs as springboards into their own cert paths. We'll see... |
