| I agree that it would be a great idea if CompTIA offered the option of combining their certs to create a "Master Computing Technologist" or something of that nature. Like if you got the A+, Network+, i-Net+, Server+ for example. Would be cool, and CompTIA could make money off of it too. It would give incentive for people to achieve more and to take all the exams, etc. With the way they're coming out with new certs, they could really go nuts with various multiple test designations. | |
| It looks like that might be the way they are headed. In the last two years they have branched out to develop the Network+, i-Net+, Server+, and Linux+. The problem with this idea is that they are all pretty basic certs, and having all of them still does little more than certify you as an all-around entry-level technician, and not any sort of specialist like the MCSE or CNE does. | |
| Interestingly I asked this very question of CompTIA. They advised that there is the possibility of a unifying cert and were looking into it. You can read into that what you will!
Also I thought that the Server+ was going to be rated along the lines of 2 years experiance much like the Net+ and not strictly 'entry level' like the A+ (6 months exp).
| Many people do familiar with PC or workstation, but when come to Svr! It is totally a different world. So, I expected S+ to be hard and experience is needed.
Anyway, the whole point to cert is to modify and improve your skill that u already had.

| I have the same problem with Comptia certs. They seemed to be aimed at the entry level tech. That's why I am so obsessed with Server+. Because its aimed at those of us with experience in the field. I am a self taught technician with no technology schooling and have a far easier time with Comptia's certifications then with the others. Does anyone else know what other certifications Comptia is working on, or if they are going to give combined titles for those of us with multiple certifications? |
