| True, in-depth server knowledge? Not really. But it does provide general fundamentals about RAID, Tape backups, Disaster Recovery, and SCSI. I found it to be one of the harder CompTIA exams, and very worth my while to have studied. | |

| As DarthW says, Server+ covers a lot of ground. What it doesn't cover is Server Operating Systems.
Specific server OS's are covered by Novell's CNE or Microsoft's MCSE very nicely. But neither of these discusses how to run a server room. For that you need to know about server environments, storage systems. back-up schemes, server hardware troubleshooting, disaster avoidance, etc. And this is the stuff that CompTIA's Server+ covers.
Server+ is a nice complement to either CNE or MCSE. The test is tough, but worthwhile for any one who will deal with the nuts & bolts of a server room as well as the server OS's.
For more specifics, you can go to http://www.comptia.org/certificatio...rplus/index.htm and get the official description.

| S+ look good, but do you actually get thing from it!!!
L+ will be more useful...
Svr study shall be in great deal on specific brand and manufacture.

| I get something out of every cert I've studied for and earned. Sometimes the reward has been monetary, a couple times certification has helped me move into another job opportunity, and many times having a certification just gives me a personal feeling of accomplishment.
In the case of Server+, I haven't yet seen any of the first two benefits. However, in addition to those listed, I have been able to apply the knowledge gained studying for the test to my day to day work effort. If studying for a cert and learning something makes my job easier, then I am under less stress, so the cert is worth it. |
