I'm glad to see MS is getting more realistic with certs. I see this as a great "working" certification (i.e. CNA vs. CNE). This also strenghtens the value of our CompTIA certs. Thanks Bill! I'll get an MS cert., as long as it doesn't retire in 9 months.

I like the idea of the MCSA as well. I am currently not working on a W2K network, and will only soon (I hope) begin getting workstations with XP, so the MCSE seems like overkill until I can eventually get into a position to get more hands on. I'm hoping to pass the Accelerated, take the required exam for MCSA and use my CompTIA certs for the elective.

I'm certainly glad to see the CompTIA exams become more useful as well.

I definitely will go for the MCSA since I only need one more, yet to be released, test...

The MCSA works out great for me in that I do more administrating than designing. To an extent, the MCSE would be overkill for my current position. The MCSA will nicely compiment what I do daily.

I think that it is a good move for Microsoft by offering an intermediate cert so-to-speak. Contrary to what a lot of people think, it will add some value back to the MCSE.

Anyone found out how to get credit for the CompTIA certs from Microsoft yet?

From the MCSA FAQ on Microsoft's site:

Q. I have my CompTIA A+ and CompTIA Network+ certifications now. What do I do to receive credit for these credentials toward the MCSA certification?
A. Details on how to receive credit for CompTIA credentials and verify certification will be announced on this Web site by January 2002.
