Do you know if there is there any word when either Sybex or Coriolis plans to put out a study guide for the exam?

I don't know about Sybex, but I know that Coriolis plans on putting out a Server+ book in the near future.

Thanks, both Robert J. Shimonski and the Webmaster of this site for this short version of the Cramsession Study Guide!

I do miss information about using crosslink cables and connecting hubs in various way's. I know how it works, but I know many people make mistakes when using crosslink cables together with hubs (or switches). I had a couple (5?) of questions regarding this issue.

Keep up the good work!

The people who put out the "For Dummies" books(I think they just changed their name to Hungry Minds INC) will be putting a Server+ Certification Bible study guide out.

I always liked the For Dummies books
but now they have this huge Bible book coming out.
I think it will be really good as a study guide.

Does anyone know when it will be released by the way?

Hi Kain;

I did a search for any references for the Server+ cert. While I can find information on what is tested, there is nothing posted anywhere (including dummies.com) about any book that is going to be published. If there is (and I imagine there will be shortly), nobody is mentioning it. I guess well have to wait a bit longer.

Hi guys:

Here's the scoop. IDG books, which has become Hungry Minds, publishes the dummies books, but they have also published other books such as the "bibles" and "Cliff's" notes for quite some time.

The dummies books are quite informal, whereas the "bibles" are more intense and have a larger content.

I checked out Hungry Mind's site, and there is no mention under any of their categories of a Server+ book.

However, since they do have books for A+ certification, I believe it is only a matter of time before they come out with a Server+ book.

Hey Guys,

Looks like Sybex will be the first one's out with the new study guide(as with the i-Net+).
Their Server+ study guide will be released around 08/03/2001.
Check out the details at www.amazon.com and do a search, for "Server+" and you will see the details, including pics.

The only thing that worries me with Sybex is them having a Server+ study guide out in March, I would think that they are leaving little room
for changes if CompTIA decides to
change an objective or two at the last minute before the Feb 4th release date of the exam. CompTIA have been known for doing that.
So the first book you get might be based on the old objectives...
I didn't see the author being an SME (subject matter expert) with CompTIA....

I know the guy who did the I-Net for dummies book was a real SME with CompTIA and his book was right on the money when I took the test..(like an SME are the people who actually helped create the exam)

I might consider finding a book by a CompTIA person first, before I go out and spend 50 bucks on study guide from someone who has as much knowledge on this exam as we do..
Give you something to think about
