I promised more puzzling questions. Here is another one. I have never seen such a devices, but it must be there ;-)

Who can tell me more about this question and give references where YOU found the answer?

You investigate a startup problem on a server using a POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter. How do you use it?

A. Place the POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter in a free slot and start the server. The POST information will be displayed on screen.

B. Place the POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter in a free slot, place the startup disk in the floppy drive and start the server. The POST information will be saved on disk.

C. Place the POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter in a free slot and start the server. The POST information will be printed on the nearest printer.

D. Place the POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter in a free slot and start the server. The POST information will be ... (sorry I do not remember it anymore.)

I choose answer B.

Who helps?

Boweise:

These things capture BIOS POST data for analysis by a technician. The ones I have seen (that would be only two in real life situations) use LEDs to display a two-digit error code. I think that these things are crap. Gimmicky. Nothing a few beeps from the PC speaker and a quick check with a power supply tester wouldn't tell you.

But here are some links:

Of course, your own search on this topic is (and was) probably needed.

Hello Lawrence, after looking into the information provided in your answer, it seems that I answered this question wrong. It think that it should be answer D which would have be something like this:

D. Place the POST Diagnostics Hardware Adapter in a free slot and start the server. The POST information will be displayed on the card in digits using LEDS or LCD screen.

Actually Lawrence is right. I used the POST Diagnostics Adapter before. The way it works you put the card is an empty slot and turn on the PC. You will get a BIOS Code and you look for the code in the book that comes the the card and it will telling you exactly what is the error mean. The book is very important.
