Server+ beta exam info
|
|
|
| I want to welcome you to our newest forum for the Server+ exam.
Here is some info about the Server+ exam:
I emailed CompTIA about Server+ beta exam and this is a copy of email that I got from them:
quote: > Thank you for your interest regarding the Server+ Beta test. First, there
> are no prerequisites for the test. As noted on the CompTIA web site, the
> advantages of taking the Beta test are two-fold: passing the beta test
> would allow for an early granting of the Server+ certification, and those
> taking the beta test would take the test at the much reduced price of
> $100.00 (currency conversions still pending). As you may know, there is
> very strong support behind this certification, including financial and
> intellectual support by 3Com, Adaptec, Compaq, HP, IBM and Intel among
> others.
> The Beta test will be available Nov. 14th - 29th, with registrations
> starting at the latest Nov. 13th. To register, call either VUE at
> 877-551-7587 or Prometric at 888-249-2781 (if within U.S.A., Canada or
> Puerto Rico). We have different phone numbers for individuals outside
> these areas, so please contact me with your location and I can provide
> those for you. The Beta test code is SK1-001.
> The Beta test will have 133 questions, and you will have up to 3 hours to
> complete it. The pass/fail mark will be determined after the Beta testing
> is done. You will receive a pass/fail determination in the mail a few
> weeks after the testing is done. If you pass, a Server+ certificate will
> be mailed to you.
> For even more information on Server+, as well as our other certifications,

| Right on man! I was looking toward that certification. I think i'll wait for the real deal tho. I don't like getting my result in like 4 months .

| I would not trust cramsession on this one. I dont think it's possible to create a good cramsession before actually seeing the exam.
I may take the beta just to get an idea of what kind of questions to expect.
Even if I don't pass, I won't be disappointed right in the testing center. I think it's a little bit embarrasing when the test administrator handing you your printout with the "FAIL" mark on it.
I am confident that if I fail the beta, I will pass the real exam. Just seeing 130+ questions should be enough to know what to be prepared for.
I don't really know what to use to prepare for this exam. I will probably look on Adaptec's website. I know they used to have a good RAID tutorial.
Also some SCSI tutorials should help. I should be able to find it also on Adaptec website.
If I take the beta, I'll post my feedback here, but I just don't want to promise anything now.

| Finally, is here....
I would like to try the beta version, however, there not enough info to prepare.
Well, u never look what is there until u are there...
Look forward for your feeback webmaster | |

| You are right, oh great Webmaster, moderator, and founder of all that is worthy. I lay prostrate before thee, begging forgiveness for having mentioned such a satanic site such as cramsession.
I now know that if Thou has not proclaimed a truth, it can not be, for only thou can know the ways of all things.
I will destroy all certificates, since they were abtained using sources with names such as examcram, cramsession, transcender, and such (even though I haven't faced the embarassing red bar).
I shall, from this day forward, hang my very being on your every word.
Amen | |

| Well, Someone Has a pickle up there you know what.. Webmaster Didn't say it was a Bad site, he only stated You cant really have that much reliable information roaming around when No one even knows whats going to be on the test.. Geesg.. Grow up!

| Thanks Daviet, that's exactly what I was saying.
At the time the Server+ cramsession (study guide) appeared on Cramsesson, the only available info about this exam was the Preliminary test objectives on CompTIA's website.
I was just expressing my personal opinion, not as a webmaster of this site, just my personal thoughts on this.
I may be wrong of cause. We'll see after the Server+ is out how good the cramsession was.
Sorry cadman if I offended you. Are you the author of the Server+ cramsession?

| Anybody know if there will be a study guide out soon? I just looked at Sybex's site and there does not seem to be any mention of it.

|
| So how many of you are going to take the beta test? Hey. Moderator. You said that it will take 4 months to get your results./?????? That really sucks. I also heard that beta test are usually harder. Is it true that people who take the beta test usually fail? GOSH.. | |
|
| I'll pesonally wait until the actual exam is out. There are also no materials to study for in the book stores. At least that sybex or other companies that print cert books have.
JerryL | |
|
| Anybody taken the beta test yet? I think the moderator should start advertising this forum since the comptia beta testing is out alright. THANK YOU! | |
|
| I did the beta test and found out that the things you need to now are:
SCSI - differences, compatibility and termination
RAID levels, specially RAID 0/1 (or RAID 10) and of course 0,1,3 and 5.
Networking technologies
Installation experiences (rack mount, hubs)
--- off course lots more than that but a lot of SCSI and RAID questions! ---
I thought the Cramsession was not so bad but to detailed in some points and lacking information on other point. It gives you a good start, but it is not finished yet!
I hope to have the first TestMaster for Server+ online within 4 weeks. If anyone has suggestions please place them in this forum. I will pick it up from there and place it on www.tmqbase.com and www.tmqbase.net
