Bag the videos. Buy a book (or two).

I think CBT nuggets has some good linux videos for beginners. However, I did watch the videos just for the sake of it well after having used Linux for a long time so I would probably not recommend just using it. I think the best way to use it is to get a good book and then download and install Linux. Probably install many applications from source and only use the command line for awhile (except for web browsing and that sort of thing).

You can learn a lot by attempting to install and configure things like Apache/MySQL/PHP and Qmail from scratch using source. Installing and configuring Qmail from scratch is a great learning experience as you have to go through a lot just to get it to work correctly. =)

I just finished watching the first video of the Linux + Nuggets and it was pretty good. It isn't possible to pass any exam using video instruction as the only study material though...something to keep in mind for all exams. The Nugget videos are my favorite suplimentary study material because the videos show the material in a way that is second only to working hands on with Linux.

I combined that approach with the one Supertech suggested, which is to buy a couple of books. Mostly, though, what you need in my experience is a high tolerance for crap that just doesn't want to work
