SSH is a much better alternative to telnet. Runs on port 22. Provides end to end encryption. Used for terminal emulation and secure FTP.

What was the question?

SSH means Secured SHell. Its an alternative to telnet. If you're into telnet, go for SSH. Telnet go pass through the web in plaintext. It means that what you placed on your telnet could easily be read by anybody. SSH provides encryption thus adding security!
