| I use a pioneer PRV-LX1 dvd recorder running Linux at work ,the only access i have is the video editing interface or FTP(for uploading files).
what i want is to get ROOT get under the hood, get to a shell
It is frustrating knowing that you work with Linux but not actuality having access to it.
Pioneer is not providing any support
Anybody have any experience with this kind of machines

| I've tried accessing using XP and OSX, but no luck. I'd love to get to the harddrive and get the raw DV data. You know of any tricks? | |

| By using Linux, Pioneer has insured easy modification via firmware updates. Developers wishing to write their own code for the LX1 will unfortunately be stymied as this is not permitted. Pioneer wanted to ensure that the unit would always create DVDs compliant with the DVD spec and turning over programming control of the LX1 would not insure total accountability.
