How to set up firewall and VPN?
The VPN is for Windows XP computer to log in.

| Hi,
Detail of the network:
1)The internet connection is using a ASDL connection with a fixed IP.
2)The network consist of 10 Windows XP pro in a workgroup environment.
3)One of the XP is runnung as an intranet webserver.
Requirement:
1)Remote user need to access the webserver(vpn into the network).
2)A firewall to protect the network.

| If it were a larger setup, I'd recommed a pix firewall which has VPN support, but for your setup, you could use something cheaper like a linksys or netgear broadband router with built in firewall and VPN support. All of these will do NAT, so none of your internal hosts will be directly exposed to the internet, you can do static nat and port forwarding so that your web server will still be accessible from outside, and most of them support 168 bit IPSEC encrypted VPN tunnels. They also support logging and other auxillary features. I imagine they're about $100 - $150. |
