Applying updates to Fedora

| Hi
I am running the book version of the Fedora Core release (love it). I have registered it, and downloaded any and all updates. First the registration doesn't stick because it asks me to register every time. When I finally download all of the updates, after about 12hrs. I proceed to install them, and nothing happens. The hour glass is moving and the machine isn't frozen, but nothing happens. I let it do this for three hours before I called it quits. Any ideas what I am doing wrong????

| I do have Yum listed as one of my update sources, but how do you use that one exclusivley. Is it a separate service???
Thanks
