Any one know how to add a host in a DNS server running on Linux operating system.

I used to do this as.
Prompt>gedit domainname.db ENTER

I get a file to edit & to add IP addresses & specify counters & mail server IP if that party demands.

What is that basic command to add host or how to start it ?

Which distro?

The configuration file for BIND is /etc/named.conf.

Have a look at this. I think that will help you a lot.
