Author I have Mandrake 7.1: I have a question about this: New to linux

Since this Mandrake came out in 2000, Is it ok to use? will I be left back? because I see different versions of that program.

Or once I learn 7.1, I will be set. I really dont care to much about the X Window or a GUI for linux jsut yet, I really wanted to learn how to administer it from the command line.

Is Using the Mandrake 7.1 OK?

I think it will be ok. I had a couple classes for linux and we used redhat 7.2. I've installed 8.0 and I'm a little bit lost about some configuration tools that got changed but as far as the commands they are pretty much the same. I'm still very much a newbie though.

Actually, Linux is Minix.

(Linux was based off a Unix clone called Minix)
