You can start your Linux journey by not shouting.

I'd think a "l33t hax0r" like yourself would know all about Linux. But then again, you are a troll who wants attention.

Hopefully this post won't get deleted by SuperTech too since my other one was.

Linux is open source.

I AM NOT TROLL I simply want to learn how use that wonderful operating system that is called Linux. I do not and would never use brain dumps and I am ofended by the fact you would even suggest I would be looking for those. I am a hard working decent person who is just trying to get my foot into the IT industry, I really do not like the way I have been treated here. PLEASE SEND WAREZ COPY OF LINUX TO SOMEGUY@HOTMAIL.COM THANK YOU VERY MUCH. For those of you have helped me with learning about Linux, thank you very much for your time.

First there is no such thing as a warez copy of linux.

No one owns Linux. It is free to have and distribute.

Second Linux is an operating system and can't be simply sent in an email.

You can read about and download the different flavors of linux from.

http://www.linuxiso.org

You download ISO images then burn them to CD's

OH I JUST WANT LINUX ON FIREwall so I can run it as a firewall perhaps using IPchains or somthing similar. Do you recommend Linux as a firewall? I WANT TO USE COMPUTER AND BE L33T

l33t, judging from your pasts posts, yes you are a troll. And even here, you start to ask a very reasonable question then say something stupid like "please send a copy of warez.." If you are serious about computers, then stay here - else PLEASE get lost and stop wasting our time. If I only was able to moderate more forums, your posts would be so edited. So don't try this crap in Net+.

Anywho, assuming you really care about Linux firewalls and are not trying to act like an as*, openBSD actually makes a better firewall. However, Linux (any 2.4.x kernel) makes a great firewall too. That uses IPTables. It's rather complex to learn so there are programs out there that ask you for rules and generate iptables scripts for you. The one I use is gShield
It's easy to set up and uses access control lists to define what ports to open, who can connect, etc. You can also set up NAT with it. I recommend it. I actually once chatted with the maker of it for a few mins on IRC once.

No problem. As long as you act mature and ask mature questions, you'll get lots of help here.

It's hacker jargon. Beeing leet or "l33t" means you are an elite hacker. They like to use numbers in place of letters. A lot of kids who say and/or think they are "l33t" don't know much about hacking; rather, they use scripts (they are called script kiddies), but some are genuinely skilled hackers.
