| Hey guys,
wondering if someone can help me out please... firstly here is my systm
Linux 2.4.20 (latest)
XF86 version 4.3.0 (latest)
Microsoft optical mouse in USB port
righto so everything works ok, X is set to use the mouse at /dev/input/mice of type "IMPS/2"
I just cant get the wheel to work! I have read on multiple sites, including the offixial X documentation, that all i have to do is add the line
Option ZAxisMapping "4 5"
in the inputdevice section of XF86Config...
But when I do this, it tells me that the value for ZAxisMapping is not valid... yet even the X site itself told me to do this, along with other places...
Can someone help? thanks... I cant live without my mouse wheel!!

| Don't download it. Try to see if your shell contains it. It's not really an external "program" per se. Try locate mouseconfig | |

| i don't have it, i know i don't cause i built my linux from scratch (i.e no distro)
why not download it? | |

| Okay you're right. It is available in RPM format. I just thought it was a built in shell command.
Woooo and this is post #2000 for me!!!!!

| Ok there is no way i am installing that program!!
after installing about 10 other programs just to meet the dependencies there is no way i'm going to waste any more HD space on ths. there has got to be an easier way to get the wheel working!
I worked my way back to libcrypt for crying out loud! i do intend on installing this one day but jesus... why would a mouse configuration tool require PAM FFS? |
