| Let me preface this by saying I am a Linux newbie, but not a networking newbie. I have managed large NT and 2000 based domains with as many as 30 remote locations using any kind of connectivity (short of ATM/Sonet) that you can imagine, including POTS dial up, ISDN, PRI, T1, wireless, fiber.
Anyway, I am looking at the possibility of installing a Linux server on our network for the purpose of monitoring Internet useage. No filtering, no blocking, just monitoring. I would like to be able to (at the very least) dump the logs to text file/MS Access database for reporting purposes, but that's about as fancy as I need.
Can anyone recommend some inexpensive (or better yet, FREE!!!) software that will run on Linux (I'm considering Red Hat, but I'm always open to suggestions) that will do what I need? Any help you can offer is greatly appreciated. |
