| that's why you should print the exam objective and compare it wiht the old on the site or directly from the book.
mark the sections so instead of following chap 1, 2, 3 etc, you would jump around the book based on the new exam objective you have printed.
by looking at the 2 side by side, you would notice it is more a reorganization than a revamp... all the old are there, with some added new stuff to reflect newer technology.... usb etc. nothing spectacular and even then, you would get a feel of its importance and weight of coverage.
nothing is that big of a deal... you need to know this, or even without knowing it, if you know linux, you can make an educated guess... it is after all a multiple choice question... not hard to guess at all if you know the logic behind linux system which is there regardless.
few new commands... you should have no problem figuring out what they are on your linux box without having a book telling you what htey are.
there were a few posts by supertech on this forum regarding comparision of new and old lpi by some person on a site, search for *lpi* on this forum.
if the test have moved beyond the beta period, then this does not apply. but if you search for *lpi* in this forum, I am sure you will come across a post of mine in which I directed someone else to the lpi site and its board, where it indicated that during hte beta period, only the old question counts, *seeded beta*.
so anyway, lots of info on this forum, do the search, this all occur within a few months, 2-3. ppl have pass the new test with old material and so can you.
edit:
also I should add, the book, while considered the best, are quite differfent in term of addressing the exam than many of us might been accustomed to, especially considering ciscopress's usefullness to the exam. While having a book certainly made me more comfortable, I don't think it is of that much a benefit. I rather think of it not as a learning material, but an expanded exam objective. You would not miss a thing iwth just the printed objective, a linux box so you can pratice the command and see it in action, and the internet, various sites like LDP etc.
questions are noobish... ask from ok stuff to idiotic stuff like what's the URL for XYZ |
