Author Linux Certs, which one?

I've wanted to get a linux since I started playing with SuSe about 2 years ago. I was wondering if anyone knows which certs are being looked for in the industry. I don't think the Linux+ will give me what I am looking for. I want a cert taht says, hey that guy really does know what he doing. Of course i realize a cert is only part of that equation, because if I don't back up the cert with my ability it won't matter anyway.

So basically I am looking at either the LPI or SAIR. Any discussion would be of much help. TIA

THat's a good question. There's RHCE from Red Hat and Linux+ from Comptia. Also the Linux Institute gies a cert. But which is best? Probably Red Hat's.

At the time I started my Linux cert, there wasn't much out there. If I remember correctly, the progress towards obtaining the Red Hat cert was extremely challenging, cost and all. LPI got some kudos for thoroughness and objectivity. I've taken the first exam towards the LPI and passed and thought it was quite easy.

Also, the SAIR cert appears to be decent too, but there weren't a lot of study guides available at the time. Perhaps there are more now.

Unless you have the Red Hat cert, I think the SAIR and LPI are about the same. It's pretty easy to fail a technical interview on Linux if you don't know it. I don't think the SAIR or LPI are all that valuable to be honest. There are way more Linux guru's out there without certs than there are with them.
