Well I finaly got around to Taking the test and Passed it with 740 Just ok.. I think because I heard that it was and real easy test, it took me by suprise. I only use linux + bible and found it to be very incomplete. Since I never event look at linux till now the book seems to take for granted that you know how to use comand line. But a pass is a Pass and I did learn alot. Well on to ccna

Never use just one book and never believe people when they say it is so easy. What's easy to others might not be to you, especially since you don't use Linux. Like for me, I'm confident I can take the test right this second and pass, but for the next few months or so I'm gonna study hard so there is 0 chance I fail and waist the money. Good to hear you passed. I use Linux at home and have various study sources, so if you can pass with just 1 book and not having used Linux, my chances look good.

first all, congrats on passing the test!

I am curious about about the book being incomplete though. Are you talking about the linux+ certification bible with the yellow cover by Trevor Kay? i took this test about two months ago using that book exclusively (and my three years of linux experience) and didn't find anything that wasn't covered.

Secondly, I think any victory over a test _with no experience_ is a victory and you should walk away happy!

Thank you
I think 3 years Experiance says it all, I have zip. I guess after using the Microsoft press books that took you step by step with labs that built on each other. I was spoiled.{{ not trying to make microsoft sound great but the press books where great for learning}} I just could not get through any of the labs in the book until near the end where stuff like you need to log on as root to use some of the commands that I was trying to use in the beging and how to use the SU comand to bring some things about.I was totaly lost. I feel that the book could of had better labs that build on each other, but all in all I learn alot that I did not know before and I guess that is what counts...
