ok if you read this
then you know about the nasty weather we are having up here. Well do to this nasty waether I had a power sag and it affect my linux box. The issue is I had the computer set with a static IP address but upon reboot it went to an automatic IP address is there a way to set it so it has a static IP by default?

thanks

I looked through the man pages but didn't see anything about setting the default value. I was able to set the ip address with the command but is there a way so it like that by default? For example I set it with a static ip address somehow it shut downs when it boots back up it doesn't go back to dhcp.

ya I was able to change it back to static. The thing is it was set to static but when the computer rebooted it reverted to DHCP.

/etc/sysconfig/dhcpd might be what you want.
