Hi all

I have problem with my Redhat linux 9.0, To work on Ms office I had used
Cross -office software .My system configuration is

seagate 40 Gb HDD
256MB RAM DDR
Processor AMD Athelon

after working some hour in MS word Its shows Disk is full ,free space
and try again.

But there is already free space in GB in my /home folder where I am saving my data.
defiently there is no space remaining in RAM
When i checkd with system monitor its shows 234 MB is used out of 241 MB
and using 15 MB swap out of 300 MB.
when I restarts system It again works for some time,I am running very limited services
I removed Tempory files but it does not works.
One IMP thing is that wineloader service shows 140MB using in system monitor

How can i trouble shoot my problem.

How can I add fonts ARIAL and TIMES ROMAN in open office.

This way I can also solve my problem because only this fonts I am using MS office.

Thanks in advance.

Hi buddy..

The first thing i'll say first of all is know your problem before asking for a soloution. The basic of any unix system is to make the swap space twice the physical ram of the system. That should be done foremost (depends if there is unpartitioned disk space remaining at disk ; else you might have to reinstall the systemor dissolve any other partition not used). It could probably solve the problem.

I suppose you mustnot have installed linux taking all defaults , and about MS cross office i wouldn't help you as i didn't used this perticular product.Open office is a very good product that i 've used. You can usethat insted and check to see if the problem persists.

hi
Does it mean problem can be due to SWAP space, actualy first I instaled with 128MB RAM
so SWAP was approxy 256,but later on I upgraded my RAM to 256 MB,can this be reason.

If we change swap space more than twice of RAM is is performance degardes??

Hi..,
You better try opening hands on..
Several possibility.. Is the linux system showing the 256 MB memory.. if yes then among other options the office applicationu r using may be buggy .. or the best way you download the sure compatible office suits like Star office / open office etc and check if things moving ..

Changing swap space might be difficult for u but in all failure u may have to use that ..

Try the possibilities out..

I doubt this is a memory/swap space issue. Next time you get the message, issue df and see if any partitions are filled to capacity.

Yes friend..,

That could also happen..

command line:

df -k
this will show listing as per block of space, see the partition wise listing of freespace at each partition.

You can also see the listing as per MBs used as below:
df -H

see those if they help
