| Someone I know admins a brand new message board called Shellsource. It only has a handful of members so far because it just started, but feel free to check it out and become a member!  | |

Alright I'm a newb. What is a shell provider? When I think of a shell, other then the obvious sea shell, I think of Bash, C, tsh, etc... | |

like when you telnet/ssh into your linux box, what do you see? what can you do?
most shell account let you browse web, lynx, check email, pine, or run irc bots or something or another.... | |

Well then you don't know much about IRC (efnet in particular) because 99% of the bots there are used for good. Protecting channels, handing out ops, kicking/banning the lamers, etc. Sure people have their DoS nets but it's definately not the norm. | |

| not that it matters, but irc since 95, being in wars (mostly with the ASL channels...), our channel (game guild) has regularly been ranked highest as it was one of the most revered (since 96 tho now in servere decline) online guild so enemies abound. lived in various network, yes, efnet included.
again, bots are lame.
edit: oh and since our qualification matters, I was an IRCop for a small network for awhile, till I got the hell annoyed out of me from all the whining (translate, not long)... so heh...
