Hi

I'm studying for my linux+ cert and I've got 5 questions that got me stumped.. Can someone please assist me...

1.) You have installed a firewall between your company's WAN and the local LAN. The local system administrator asks you to allow his SOCKS server to pass the firewall.
Referring to the above, which port or ports must you unblock?

Choice 1
80
Choice 2
1080
Choice 3
1090
Choice 4
6000-7000
Choice 5
9000

2.) Without using RAID, which one of the following can be done to speed up disk access on a Linux system?
Choice 1
Use --enable_read_ahead in the options when mounting the drive to enable read-ahead caching.
Choice 2
Type "echo 0x1224 > /dev/hda1" to enable consecutive writes.
Choice 3
Put /boot on a drive distinct from the root directory. Boot code is often swapped out and needs to be reread.
Choice 4
Put commonly used libraries, programs, and swap on separate drives.
Choice 5
Type "echo 0x23112 > /proc/partitions" to enable supercache for disk access.

3.) Sample Code
A "Display" subsection is required in each "Screen" section.
How do you fix the above problem?

Choice 1
Edit the X configuration file.
Choice 2
Ignore the error; the Xterm will run anyway.
Choice 3
Restart the Xterm that is causing the problem.
Choice 4
Restart X to clear the problem and restart the xterms.
Choice 5
Remove the X configuration file and start X.

4.) For which one of the following reasons is the sticky bit used?

Choice 1
It ensures that programs are not swapped to virtual memory.
Choice 2
It differentiates device files from normal files.
Choice 3
It marks non-removable files.
Choice 4
It defines small sticky note-type files that are used for storing transient data.
Choice 5
It ensures that only a file's owner can remove files in a directory.

5.) Scenario
Jane wants to remotely check which services are available on her network,
Based on the above, which one of the following programs is useful?

Choice 1
nmap
Choice 2
chkexploit
Choice 3
ping
Choice 4
COPS
Choice 5
smurf

Thanks
Papiya
