In my qod for inet+ The question was what 2 ways can unix perform name resolution?
The answers dns and hosts file.
My question is how do I make the windows machines resole the linux machine name?
Do I add it to the windows host file?
I am familiar with host files but have no experience using them.

Thanks

Yeah, Windows has a hosts file that you can add entries to. I don't recall where it's located because I never use it. It usually makes more sense to do name resolution through DNS or some directory service. Unix's host file is usually only used to make local services aware of the host's FQDN.
