Anyone care to share experiences running Linux on an Alpha based system?

I'm working with an old DIGITAL system. Seems the problem is defining the OS in the systems boot configuration.

Now you know why Industrial light & Magic switched to all Intel processors...

I run Debian Woody on an Alpha system. Not troubles so far. What kind of probs are you running into?

Initial problem is configuring the BIOS to boot from the required media!

I've been reading some of the Debian release's guide for installation, and think I have a handle on that. I have not been impressed with Red Hat's support for this port (they've just handed it over to Compaq/HP from what I see). Sad considering the good support they offer for the x86 ports.

I think my first step is BIOS upgrade. If time permits, I'll look at that on Friday.
