Hi all,

I've tried installing Rehat 7.2 on my desktop and it seemed to work yesterday(though very slow in x windows mode). Today I cannot enter X windows mode but only the text mode works. Once I run "startx" from text mode redhat fails but only the blank wallpaper and a small "cross" appear on the screen.

I tried to re-install redhat 7.2 but still in vain. Have you seen that or is it a hardware issue?

Thanks in advance,
Goku

Did you rerun Xconfigurator?

It sounds like its hardware related especially if you say that text mode works fine. Are you trying to install Red Hat on a limited system? I've found that Red Hat 7.2 has a fairly robust installation program detecting everything but a crappy winmodem. Would swapping out video cards work for this?
