It was a dry, unassuming test with the faint aftertaste of A+....

Overall, I overstudied for this exam. If you've done any work with Unix based OS at all this one is fairly easy. I spent two months reading six books, installing Linux on three PCs. In the end, I'd have passed the test if I took it a month earlier.... but wouldn't have had so much fun playing with Linux!

If you can still get the ExamCram Linux+ book that came out earlier this year (just before they closed), go for it. I found that book the best guide.

Hats off to the Bingmeister!

Seems like anyone with Unix experience is the exception instead of the rule these daze.
I would always rather overstudy than bomb a test (crushed egos take so long to heal).

Good job.

My experience with this exam was much the same. A decent test aimed at beginners, with more hardware questions than I had anticipated, but most of them easy. On the other hand, it is impossible to study too much for any test. Congrats on the pass.

Do you have the ExamCram Linux+ book?

What are you using for the CCNA training?

I do have the ExamCram book, but plan to keep it for reference (class instructional).

CCNA -- Sybex, Cisco Press, and a few other books are in route from the booksellers.

Once I started researching which Linux books to use, I'm starting to hear about the Linux+ Exam Cram. Will have to search a little for that. Will look into Running Linux by Oreilly as well.
I'm already going through O'Reilly's Learning Red Hat Linux (2nd ed) and have some familiarity dealing with Unix back from college. Out of curiosity Bingram, what other books did you go over? Anybody else with personal recommendations?

Almost forgot heh. Hearty congratulations on passing Linux+ Bingram!

ORielly's LINUX in a Nutshell is good to get the real deal on any commands and switches.

"LINUX for Windows NT/2000 Administrators" is very good reference, mainly because it caters to anyone with a moderate skill level in Win Sys Admin.

McGraw Hill's "Linux, the Complete Reference" was worth the money also.

But the ExamCram Linux+ was still the best test prep material, IMO.
