I'm not good with linux at all, and so, i decided to install linux on my computer. I found a website that had it free and i downloaded it and proceded to install it on my computer. I now have a problem, because when i tried to restore everything back to normal(windows) it won't let me(i tried using the system restore disk, then it told me to run the fdisk command). Now when i tried to format(fdisk) the C drive it says that like the harddrive wasn't there, or that maybe the wires are disconnected(some equivalent of that). What do i Do? do i format my harddrive on linux, if so what is the command. Unfortunately i didn't install redhat linux, i think it was debian, how do i remove it? Please help me,

Sounds like you selected "remove all existing data" when you partitioned your drive. This turned all your partions to ext2 which fdisk can't see. I think if you rerun the install and manually remove all linux partitions then exit the install program and reboot and try fdisk again. I don't know debian that well, but I did this on RH a couple of years ago, and was able to repartiton in FAT32. Hope this helps.

Not sure I follow you....You got Linux and want to get rid of it? You can use fdisk within Linux (or cfdisk) to delete it. The windows fdisk won't be able to see ext2 partitions, but the Linux fdisk will.

Well I don't know if he could boot into Linux or had not made a L boot disk. Sounds like he is trying to recover using win fdisk, which I don't think is possible. This happended to me once and I didn't make boot disk (never again)when I was running dual OS's. I just restarted the install and removed all linux part. Now I use disk drive trays, if I screw-up it's not big deal.

Boot off the install CD and do a rescue install maybe? Or just reinstall Linux from there.

I'm not running dual os's, windows simply doesn't exist on my comp now(maybe i'm wrong). When i installed Linux i didn't know what i was doing(i still don't know) and when it said that i would lose all data on my harddrive i didn't care because i thought reinstalling windows would be as easy as popping a cd in and following directions but as i have now learned it isn't. according to dos, the c:\windows\..... doesn't exist. So i have concluded that the windows system files are gone. So how do i format my hardrive back to fat32??? And about the boot disk, my computer boots directly into linux not dos not windows. the only way i get into dos is when i put in my system recovery cd and it asks me to do fdisk and as a result puts me back in dos. so run fdisk on debian???

First you need a boot disk.

Ive attached a partitioning tool named delpart. This will remove the Linux partitions. Add this to your boot disk(unzip it and copy the exe).Boot into DOS and run it.Delete the partitions.Re-boot to DOS. Execute Fdisk /mbr for a fresh Mbr. The run Fdisk and create your partitions.Re-boot and format. Then run Setup for Windows.

It is possible to reformat your hard drive and install windows using fat 32 just pop in a win98 boot disk and restart your PC then format your hard drive reinstalling windows.
