Hi guys

I have downloaded an image for Linux “caenlinux-i386.iso”.

What is the best way to install it in a separate partition or in an individual PC.

Please in details as this is the first attempt for me to trying another OS but MS Windows.

thank you;

I would suggest a separate PC because you never get it right the first time. You will learn more about Linux through the install process than any other. I might suggest a good book to help you with some of the details. Several to choose from but most are distro specific. Any FAQs or manuals available with your choosen distro? Just jump in and get your feet wet.

Good luck.

1. Get hardware specs including Video Card manu. and chipset, video RAM, RAM, monitor resolution rates, modem type.
2. Start Computer.
3. Enter BIOS so that computer boots from CD-ROM
4. Insert Linux CD in CD-ROM drive.
5. Linux Installation should start automatically.
6. Hit "Next" a dozen times.
7. Wait.
8. Boot into Linux.

Damn you're busy, one day you're installing NetWare 6.0 the next day Linux - has Windows suddenly lost its appeal or something
