| Hi, dear all:
I have 5G for my windos and 10G for Redhat 7.0, another 13G is free space, my question is can i install redhat 7.3 in the 13G free space? how to do it? thank you very much!

| boot from the 7.3 cdrom and start the install process you will be ask where you want the system install ..make a new ext3 partition in the 13G unused space and you can use the swap partition already in place from RH 7.0 | |

Exactly. If you want to share certain partitions, like /home or /root between systems, you can do this as well. Just do this during the partition setup process.

| ccieToBe, how is the RHCE learning coming along? Are you getting prepared to sit the exam any time this year? Just curious as I am planning on going on this route soon. | |

I'm not really studying for any certs at the moment. Right now my focus is on starting a fixed wireless ISP. Even though I'm not studying for an exam a lot of the things I'm learning would apply to RedHat's and Cisco's exams.

| hi, dear all:
I got a problem, i have 10 partitons(windows OS) in my first hard disk, I installed linux in my second hard disk, after that, i found that my first hard disk's MBR was damaged by linux, my first hard disk can't boot by itself, but the partitions can be seen when i use a floopy. any idea on how can i recovery my first hard disk's MBR?
Thank you! | |

| Do you have a Windows boot floppy? If so, boot from it and issue "fdisk /mbr". If that doesn't work then...
What version of Windows are you talking about?
Are the partitions FAT or NTFS?
Did you ever convert your disk to be dynamic?

| hi, thank you ccieToBe:
up to now, I dare not to run fidsk /mbr right away, because according the Mrcrosoft web site, it will be dangerous to use FDISK /MBR when the partitions are more than 4 or when it have a dual boot function.
my first partitons is winME, and the the remainder 9 partitions are created by windows XP,
so i have ME/XP dual boot OS, I didn't set them to dynamic attribute.
i guess in my MBR, the partitions table data is not modified by the linux, just the first boot code part was replace by the linux, do you suggest me use some small tools which is under DOS to just overwrite the part of boot code which was replace by linux in the MBR? is so, which one is the best safe one? |
