| Has anyone used (or is using) this book for the Linux+? It's just one of the books I'm using and I'm curious to hear what people think about it.

Yeah...There's about 4 chapters on Hardware and Networks alone. Even though I got my A+ and Net+ this material isn't fresh on my mind so a review is needed.
I also got the Linux+ exam cram, the LPI Linux Certification in a Nutshell (both of which I haven't started to read yet) and I'm also in a Unix course in school. I'm using a book called Unix Unbounded in that. Despite spending a lot of time on the Vi editor (I dont think it's covered much in the Linux+) the class and the book is good in that you learn a lot of command line stuff and *nix basics.

| i'm using the Linux+ExamCram, i still have all my A+ books so i refresh my hardware skills from there,Using Linux 4th edition,General Linux 1 prep kit exam 101(very good book)

Linux+ is also very heavy on the hardware area, so I wouldn't consider that a fault.
|
| you are wright about the hardware on the Linux+exam but i alredy have 6 books on A+ to study for the hardware part. | |

BootData,
As for some pointers for the exam,
The VMS Kid posted a good review
about the exam here:
http://www.examnotes.net/forums/sho...ght=linux+sybex
For me, I just used the study guide
and a spare PC with Linux installed on it
for hands on practice.
A good idea might be to get your hands on
some practice Linux+ test questions
to get a feel for it. | |

freak has a Linux+ study guide at his site that includes some practice labs. It costs like ten bucks though. I used Roderick Smith's book.

| Thanks for the posting on this book. I'll look into buying the Linux bible. What can people say about the All-In-One Linux book? Any good? | |

| Thanks dagger for all those links. After careful reading I'm going to invest my time into The linux+ bible book.
Are there also good sites that help me along the way while my book arrives?

It might be a good idea to set up a
Linux box at home to practice on. A book can only teach you so much.
Good Luck | |

| Yeah you definately need to set up some type of Linux box. It doesn't make much sense to memorize facts and not put anything to practice. Good thing though is that Linux will run fine on even slow machines, especially if you don't run X windows. | |

You might want to get a Unix shell account so that you can learn to face the command line so that you'll be prepared for when you install Linux.

| Thanks for the input. Now are there any sites on linux worth bookmarking and referencing from time to time? | |
