Question of the Day...

| Hello all I just got the latest QOD in my Email and I think there's an answer missing here...
You need to add a CD-ROM drive to your PC system. Which of the following are valid ways to connect such device to the system (Choose all that apply)?
A) via SCSI
B) via a sound card
C) via EIDE
D) via parallel port
E) via serial port
Correct answer: ABC
I would also choose D because I have a backpack CD-Rom Drive that I use... Which attaches to the parallel port...

| You're right. If you can hook up something to a parallel port, chances are you can hook it up to a serial port too through a converter. So really all of the options are arguable. | |

| Technically, you are probably correct.
Feasibly, why bother. Your backpack operates at, what, maybe 4X ?
I've still got a drawer full of 14.4 & 28K modems and serial to parallel converters.

| How would "B" be an option??? | |

| Some of the older Sound cards had IDE ports. You'll also usually run a wire for sound between the sound card and CDROM. So the sound card option's kind of a stretch too. | |

| Oh, OK, I can see if you decided to take the sound card out, but I was thinking in simpler terms . . . plug an extra CD-ROM into the sound card, hmmm . . . . |
