| I'm new to linux and just got a copy of Redhat! When I try to boot from the cd I will get to a point where it says anaconda and after it checks the mouse and a few other things my screen goes blank, I mean like it dies. I have to restart my computer and shut off the moniter and restart it!?!!??
what am I doing wrong! Like I said I'm brand new to this and would really like to learn more about Linux
Thanks

| I could be wrong but it sounds like either faulty hardware or some hardware that's incompatible with Red Hat. Even though I don't, what you really need to do before installing Linux is to check out the manufacturer's hardware compatibility list. | |

some lessons in life come harder than others. That's why a Unix person's favorite expression is "RTFM". | |

Yes this a hardware conflict. You will proably find Linux easier to learn with the Mandrake distro. However, it wont make any difference until you get a box running. Its a good idea to know all about your hardware before you begin. Then you can search the distro`s HCL and see where you stand.
Have you tried that yet? Its not going to be like installing a MS OS. |
