I just finished installing RH multiple times and the install goes along flawlessly. When I reboot after install I get a command prompt. Ok so I try to start windows with startx and I get this error message that says:
xauth: Creating new authority file /root/.xauthority

execve failed for /etc/x11/x (errno 2)
_X11TransSocketUNIXConnect: Can't connect: Errno = 111 giving up

xinit: Connection refused (errno 111): unable to connect to X server
xinit: no such process (errno 3): Server error

I have installed 3 times and everythime the same problem

Any comments much appreciatted..

I'll take a stab at it,
but maybe your video card is not supported by that version of RH or the X is set up wrong when you used the Xconfigurator.

So basically it might be an unsupported video card or just a wrong setting for X to run.

You might want to download the lastest version of RH (7.2)

Agreed. Get RH 7.2 if you can. It has much better hardware support.

Is it onboard video with the Intel 810 chipset?

Build in video board! Problem!

I don't know about Linux.

I had problem with IBM PC before with onboard video card and try to install Win NT and Linux.

First of all, like has been said above, move to RH 7.2 . . . the HW support is drastically improved from previous versions. Next you may want to try altering your settings with various tools that are available, such as XConfigurator, XF86Setup, xf86config, etc. If none of this works, you might have to go with a generic or VGA16 X Server.
