I want to find out what your opinion is about the O'Reilly book on "Linux in a nutshell" as some web sites reviews tend to refer to it as a refined version of the "man" pages.

I have recently acquired this book and find it to be quite informative and promising. But then I've not really referenced it in dept yet to know if it's worth comparing it to the "Unix in a nutshell" book which have been more than often rated 5 stars and 4.5 stars as a minimum. Well, please your opinion would be greatly appreciated. Happy learning people and more knowledge to everyone that strives for it.

I agree with the description, "refined version of the "man" pages", but that certainly does't make it a poor reference book. I bought my copy when it came out in 1997 and I use it at least once a week. I'm not sure if there is a more recent version, but the one I own is fine. It's taught me Unix. If there was ever a book that could claim to be the Dictionary of Linux commands, this Nutshell book would be it.
