I have a Pentuim P133mhz laptop with Red Hat 7.1 running. The previous user forgot to give us the passowrd and left the company and we are unable to find him. I was about to re-install Red Hat from a CD-ROM but the Laptop does not have a CD-ROM drive. Is there any other way to run the setup again or re-set the root password ?

Unless the previous user took some security precautions against this you should be able to boot into sigle user mode and reset root's password. If you want a clean install you should be able to use the floppy as a boot device and do an install via FTP or NFS. If there's no floppy drive netboot's another possibility.
