| Dear Experts,
My friend told me that there has a good book "Get Linux Certified and Get Ahead" to prepare the LPI. Is it really good?
Thanks.

| Well, from what I read here
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/A...5819113-2298205
I wouldn't buy it. It doesn't look like it is a study guide to the LPI examination as such.
By far the best single book is the O'Reilly LPI in a Nutshell book, so long as you keep in mind how the objectives have been revamped.
In the other thread, you asked me about a book on learning Linux system administration. I have one on order that should arrive soon. I'll let you know what I think. But you can learn what you need to know from the study guides that I listed in the other thread. Just run the commands in a terminal window -- better yet remotely via telnet or ssh -- so you get hands on practice with them.

That is a book to sell you on the IDEA of becoming Linux certified. It is marketing hype, not technical material. I used LPI In A Nutshell to get my LPIC-1. Not sure if it still as good as it was then, but that was all that I needed.

| If I remember correctly, the book was authored by an Ann Martinez. The general information is useful in terms of the benefits of Linux and certification. However, its not up to date with current offerings as well as other specifics. I don't think the book has any specific information that would help on a Linux certification test. | |
