I came quite close to losing all data on my hdds, lucky Windows 2000 Recovery Console to the rescue.

No, but it sure seems like a linuxhell day!

| Something else I came accross:
http://www.leftfoot.com/freeshells.html
There are some nice Unix tutorials and also gives you a listing of free *nix shell providers, so if you don't have a *nix box, you can telnet/ssh and use theirs for practice.

| I already have a nice shell.
No clue how to do anything other then:
pico
lynx
BitchX
eggdrop | |
| Boulware5 2002-11-28, 12:08 am |
| You IRC and run eggies too? So do I...what network and channels do you frequent? | |
| ruscorp 2002-11-28, 12:55 am |
| I used to IRC a lot. Not much anymore. I used to run a couple of bots for #warez950 on EFnet. | |
| Boulware5 2002-11-29, 11:50 pm |
| ruscrop, we should open up an irc channel for examnotes. Not on efnet....I recently had a falling out there, but on another net like dalnet maybe. I have several times suggested a chat room/channel for this place to the webmaster. What do ya think? | |

Yea, if I can get that eggy running again. Had some problems with my "legit" shell.
Most shell providers take a dim view of running IRC bots unless you pay . . .

I am a paying customer of almost 2 years.
| Boulware5 2002-11-30, 12:29 pm |
| Every pay shell I've seen will allow eggdrops...Did you do something naughty, rusc? | |

I don't think the admins like me. I ask to many questions and "broke" my shell twice.

LOL, well if you decide to do it again and get stuck, feel free to ask me...I've done it lots of times. I currently have about 4 shells.

I have only one. The admins aren't exactly the user friendly type.

| Let me recommend www.nitemare.com It is one of mine and it is fantastic. It's one of the cheaper shells out there ($3/month). The admin (who I kinda know) is very nice and helpful. | |
