Sorry authorisation has failed here too. It's got to be a UK thing, authorization is spelt with an "s" instead on the elite American "z".

Whoops. May need to find another method of getting that information to us onoski.
I'm getting the "sorry, authorisation failed" message like the others.

Opera browser comes to FreeBSD

Monday 4 November 2002

Opera Software has upgraded its browser for Linux for Intel and PowerPC users, while simultaneously adding a new port to the Unix variance FreeBSD operating system.

Opera said its browser was popular with Linux users and that the release of Opera 6.1 would offer enhanced font support, Java support without using a plug-in, and improved bookmark handling.

The company said that it had received more than 1.5 million downloads from Linux users since February 2001 and was anticipating a quick take-up for the new offering.

Furthermore, the addition of the FreeBSD port makes Opera available on eight different operating systems. FreeBSD is a Berkeley Software Distribution operating system popular with high-end users such as systems administrators.

The pairing of Opera with FreeBSD is expected to entice corporate users with an emphasis on stability.

Opera is now available on Windows, Linux, Mac, Solaris, FreeBSD, OS/2, Symbian OS and QNX.

pretty much read like the press release on opera's site.

I dunno how much a web browser matter on a server platform tho... maybe it matters....

1.5 million downloads 20 months also doesn't seem that impressive...

Well, I could always run Opera in FreeBSD because of FreeBSD's linux binary compatability. Still good news though - maybe it'll be a little faster now.
